Discovery Science Center

Wow, yesterday Trenton, Kaden, Taryn and myself went to the Discovery Science Center and let me just say that for all you Arizonians reading this, this is an AWESOME place to bring your kids. Forget Disneyland or Legoland, come here instead.

This is a totally hands on exhibits for kids that has a whole dinosaur section,

an earthquake house, a hurricane simulator,

plus sooooooo much more not to mention the rotating exhibits which were animal "grossology" and "Bob the Builder".

Really, this place was fantastic. Don't worry Truston, even though you are at Grandma's house right now and didn't get to go with us, Daddy will take you next month!

P.S. If you have a BoA bank account, go to the BoA web page and check out the local museums and such that you can get into free the first Saturday of every month, I think through the end of the year.

My Daddy

Who you lookin' at? This is my daddy!
Ahhhhhh so smooth!
Are you STILL taking pictures?

Ok, so Taryn really loves riding on Trenton's shoulders (and smacking his head) I just thought these pictures were so sweet and I wanted to share.

P.S. Thank you again Tasha for all of the wonderful clothes!

Ah the mess

Ok, so this morning I learned a valuable lesson. "Don't assume that your two year old is going to stay at the kitchen table eating his breakfast while you are upstairs playing with your blog." I came down to this:

Now you can see why I don't post very often anymore. The kids need "Constant Vigilance!"

It is Time

Hey everyone out there in blogger land. I know it has been an incredibly long time since I have posted. I would like to say that things have been really busy but to be honest, well, things HAVE been really busy. With taking kids to check ups and Kaden's speech therapy and only having one car and one afternoon a week to coordinate everything, life can be crazy, at least on Fridays :o) What about every other day of the week you might ask? Well, I don't really have a good answer for that except keeping the kiddos happy! That is definately a full time job and when the computer isn't in a convenient place to keep track of the kids at the same time as blogging well, let's just say I don't want them to have enough time to explore on their own and find the knives or clog the sink with the water on, enough said. Plus, I have found a new obsession other than the old computer for when the kids are in bed. That's right, I, that is in, Me, Kayla Hansen Lucas, have found a reason to actually LIKE excersize!! I look forward to participating in my nightly routine thanks now to the WII FIT. Really, I love it! Plus, I am feeling so much healthier and stronger although, I have only lost a few pounds so far, I have gained a lot of muscle and have I mentioned that I like doing it? I have always hated even the word exersize let alone doing any but now I find myself sneeking it in throughout the day when the kids aren't monopolizing the TV and then when they are in bed at night I go to town! So, speaking of the kiddos they are doing pretty great right now. Truston is registered for preschool starting on August 5th and is really excited about that. Kaden goes to speech therapy for an hour on Fridays and we call it his school and though he really loves it, I have only really noticed that he has learned how to fake burp. Ok, not really, he is actually make three "word" (I use word loosly) sentances. They sound more like different vowel sounds but hey, it's a start. Someday I will here the words "I love you, Mom!" come from his mouth, but until then I am happy with his random hugs that usually are from behind my knee that makes my leg buckle underneith me but hey, I love'm all the same. Taryn is growing by leaps and bounds. She says Mama, Dada, Baby, and BaBa for her bottle. Her hair is looking more strawberry than just blonde plus it looks like it may be very wavy if not curly! I tried to get pictures that show it but this is the best I got. She has the thickest hair of any of my kids at this age and I can't believe that she is going to be 10 months on the 27th!

Time is going by way too quickly! Let's see what else.........oh, yeah. Trenton decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of shaving his head. So I attached a pic. I actually love it. I think he looks tough but after all the comments he has received from classmates he thinks that he looks too mean so he's going to grow it back. We'll see.

I love Daddy!
Well, that the brief update and I will try to do better and keeping this updated. Especially for you Tina!!

Forecast: Big quake likely in Calif.

Ok, so I just published my last post and went onto other things, like checking my yahoo mail, and what is the big ol' headline:
By ALICIA CHANG, AP Science Writer
Mon Apr 14, 6:20 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - California faces an almost certain risk of being rocked by a strong earthquake by 2037, scientists said Monday in the first statewide temblor forecast.

New calculations reveal there is a 99.7 percent chance a magnitude 6.7 quake or larger will strike in the next 30 years. The odds of such an event are higher in Southern California than Northern California, 97 percent versus 93 percent.

Yeah, ok so sure 2037 is a really long way away but if you know me, you know I am TERRIFIED at the thought of an earthquake. Really, I am, even just typing this my heart rate has increased significantly and my head is starting to spin, a bit dramatic, well, perhaps but that's the facts. So to this headline, all I have to say about it now is: We are so outta here, been there, done that. Thanks northridge earthquake, I'll never be the same.

Ode to a Dishwasher

It never tells me no,
It never says "I'm tired",
It washes dishes clean (enough),
So dishpan hands-You're Fired!
No more dishes piled high,
No more cracking, itching fingers,
When the evening meal is over,
In the kitchen, I'll not linger!
Appreciated now forever,
This appliance I adore,
Dishwasher you are my friend,
Without you, I'll live no more!

Ok, really, I know some people like washing dishes for reasons I cannot fathom (people like my mom and Erika come to mind, really, what are you thinking?) Do your hands not get dried out, or what? My hands after washing dishes everyday, all day, would feel like a thousand papercuts and they would look like it too! I mean, I love my washer and dryer too but it's my dishwasher that saves me from daily pain. If you have never lived without a dishwasher, don't. If you currently don't have a dishwasher, you have my upmost sympathy and my advise is MOVE!
Coming soon..........Ode to a washer and dryer, the dynamic duo!
